“Mank” de David Fincher lidera la lista de nominados al Oscar con 10 menciones, y por primera vez dos mujeres, Chloé Zhao y Emerald Fennell, fueron postuladas a mejor dirección.
Ocho títulos competirán por el premio a la mejor película: “Mank”, “Promising Young Woman” (“Hermosa venganza”) de Fennell, “Nomadland” de Zhao, “Judas and the Black Messiah” (“Judas y el mesías negro”), “Sound of Metal” (“El sonido del metal”), “Minari”, “The Father” (“El padre”) y “The Trial of the Chicago 7” (“El juicio de los 7 de Chicago”).
En la categoría de dirección se hizo historia. Sólo cinco mujeres han sido nominadas antes a este premio. Zhao es la primera directora de origen asiático postulada. Los demás candidatos son Lee Isaac Chung por “Minari”, David Fincher por “Mank” y Thomas Vinterberg por “Another Round” (“Una ronda más”).
Tras un año de pandemia en el que la mayoría de los cines se mantuvieron cerrados, los servicios de streaming dominan este año los Premios de la Academia.
Netflix, como se anticipaba, lidera el grupo con 35 nominaciones. El servicio aún busca su Oscar a la mejor película, y este año tiene posibilidad de ganarlo con dos producciones: “Mank” y “The Trial of the Chicago 7”, un filme de Paramount Pictures vendido durante la pandemia. Netflix también encabezó la lista de candidatos del año pasado con 24 menciones, pero obtuvo sólo dos premios.
Otros servicios fueron nominados. Amazon, en particular, estuvo bien representado con “Sound of Metal”, “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm” y “One Night in Miami…”
